'MAKING OF' INFORMATION:

'MARVEL KNIGHTS' is a fan film I made as a final project when I was back in college (this version which is online has been broken into parts, mainly to keep better quality picture, it is also the re-mastered version which was re-edited and reworked in 2008) I had a few hours every week for like six weeks (even though I had a two week holiday in between them, which really got on my nerves) in which to do go through all the stages of production, I never though I was going to be able to do it with such a short deadline but I made it in the end, thanks to my cast, crew, friends, family and so on, I would not have been able to have done the whole film on my own.

The idea came from an actual Marvel comic in which Blade was stalking some vampires and the Punisher creeps up behind Blade and shoots him in the head, nothing happens the Blade, they both square off at one another and then talk to each other about being the same type of person, or something, but nothing actually happens, they don't really fight, just talk, but my final year was coming and I decided on using the same concept for a fan film, seven months before filming began.

The only reason I played The Punisher in the film was because nobody knew who he was or understood his character, I bought and read over eighty Punisher comics, watched the 2004 Punisher movie and also the Blade movies as many times as possible to understand the characters more.

For a brief amount of time I was thinking about changing the Punisher to another Marvel comic character to Wolverine, mainly because of my height, I felt I could not do the roll because the Punisher is about six feet tall and I am only five feet nine inches tall, but I could not find anybody who could play the part with the understanding of the character, so I just went for it.

Casting Blade was an easy decision, mainly because the actor who played him is one of my best friends, that and he was the only black guy in the whole class, plus he also played as Blade in another student's fan film the year before, so he was already prepared for the role.

I think one think that my teachers and classmates were surprised at was the fact I spent something like one hundred pounds on the production, its not much, but when your on thirty pounds a week from the college, it quite a lot. It was a pain finding the right props and costumes the first thing I got was the Punisher T-shirt, which was from eBay or something, the rest was some borrowed clothes, toy guns, toy swords, fake knifes that were repainted. The one thing I wanted but could not afford was a leather trench coat, I really wanted to use one because there was a scene in which Blade pretends to be the Punisher to shock a criminal, but since I never got the coat, the scene was dropped before scripting began.

I am very happy with the final film, also the CGI effects that Andre (Blade) created for the film, it was a lot of fun for me and I am sure the rest of my cast and crew had fun, it was a stressful experience at times and there are some funny thing that happened whilst making this film (for instance, I had to dress as Punisher at home and carry to large bags full of fake weapons, props and my scripts to college everyday, on foot, so one time I went to get a tripod, which my teacher left for me, for a borrowed camera from my class, after closing time, but the main entrance was locked and some of the staff would not let me in because I forgot my college ID card, so I had to stand, outside the building dressed as the Punisher with two heavy bag of guns waiting for somebody to open the door, I got more that a double glance by other people walking buy, they must have though I was some crazy hit man or something, it was fun.

Even though I am happy with the film, there are some things I wish I could change and would do completely different if I were to do it today, but what's done is done and I am pleased with my first, short movie, I hope you enjoy.
